Q: What straight pipe length is required before and after installing the MFC flow meter?
A: Due to our balanced magnetic field distribution design, the MFC Series requires only 5 diameters (5D) of straight pipe run upstream from the center of the sensor and 2 diameters (2D) downstream. This compact footprint allows easy retrofitting into tight mechanical rooms or cramped piping arrays.

Q: How do I choose the correct liner and electrode materials for corrosive fluids?
A: Material selection depends on fluid chemistry, abrasion level, and operating temperature. For strong acids (like sulfuric or nitric acid) and elevated temperatures up to 180C, PTFE or PFA liners paired with Tantalum or Platinum-Iridium electrodes are recommended. For abrasive slurries, mining pulp, or wastewater, Polyurethane or Neoprene liners combined with Tungsten Carbide or Hastelloy C electrodes provide optimal longevity. Q: Can the MFC flow meter measure non-conductive liquids like pure oil or distilled water?
A: No, electromagnetic flow meters require a conductive fluid path to generate an induced voltage signal. The MFC Series requires a minimum fluid electrical conductivity of 5 pS/cm (or ≥ 20 pS/cm for deionized water). It cannot measure hydrocarbons, fuel oils, gas, or ultra-pure water with zero conductivity.

Q: What is the difference between compact (integral) and remote mounting types?
A: In compact models, the transmitter display is directly mounted on top of the flow sensor. This is ideal for ambient temperatures below 80C and accessible installation locations. In remote models, the transmitter is installed separately (up to 100 meters away) using high-shielded signal cabling. Remote configuration is recommended for high fluid temperatures (up to 180C ), severe pipe vibration, elevated moisture/flooding risks, or hard-to-reach pipe runs.
