Chongqing Chuanyi MS Series Magnetostrictive Level Meter
MS
The Chuanyi MS Magnetostrictive Level Meter provides precise position and level monitoring by measuring the exact time interval between an electrical interrogation pulse and a returned torsional acoustic wave. Engineered for complex process environments, it ensures high-resolution measurement unaffected by medium density changes or vapor conditions. This versatile instrument ensures seamless integration and dependable operation across various storage tanks and process vessels.
The Chongqing Chuanyi MS Series Magnetostrictive Level Meter represents a high-performance solution for precise industrial level measurement and automation control. Operating on the magnetostrictive principle, the instrument features a waveguide wire housed inside a rigid probe stem. A permanent magnet built into the float moves freely up and down the probe in response to the liquid level.
Advanced Magnetostrictive Measurement Principle When a current pulse is sent down the waveguide wire, it generates a circumferential magnetic field. Where this field interacts with the magnetic field of the float, a torsional stress wave (acoustic pulse) is induced in the waveguide. By accurately measuring the precise time of flight between the initiation pulse and the return acoustic wave, the electronic transmitter calculates the exact position of the float with millimeter-level resolution.
High Precision and Multi-Parameter Monitoring The MS series is engineered to deliver exceptional accuracy, making it ideal for custody transfer and high-accuracy inventory control. Furthermore, its advanced electronics enable simultaneous monitoring of total liquid level and liquid-liquid interface levels (such as oil and water separation) using multiple floats, providing comprehensive data for complex separation processes.
Robust Design and System Integration Built to withstand rigorous industrial environments, the transmitter features rugged probe and housing materials suitable for chemical, petroleum, and general industrial sectors. Equipped with standard industrial output signals and digital communication protocols (such as 4-20mA with HART), the instrument integrates effortlessly into existing Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for remote monitoring and parameter configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: How does the magnetostrictive level meter achieve such high precision? A: It measures the precise time of flight of a torsional acoustic wave generated by the interaction between an electrical pulse and a movable magnetic float, allowing for high-resolution position detection down to the millimeter level.
Q2: Can the MS series measure the interface between two different liquids? A: Yes, with the use of dual floats having different specific gravities, the instrument can simultaneously measure both the total liquid level and the interface level between two immiscible liquids (such as oil and water).
Q3: Does the magnetostrictive probe require regular recalibration? A: No, the measurement principle is based on physical time intervals and waveguide propagation speed, which do not drift over time, eliminating the need for periodic recalibration.
Q4: What output signals are available for system integration? A: The instrument supports standard 4-20mA analog output combined with HART protocol for digital communication, remote monitoring, and easy configuration.
